Nice FR4 PCB board with good quality made in Shenzhen China
FR4 is a commonly used printed circuit board (PCB) substrate material, mainly composed of fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. Fiberglass cloth provides excellent mechanical strength, allowing PCBs to withstand certain external forces without easily deforming or damaging; Epoxy resin plays a role in bonding glass fibers and has good electrical insulation performance and chemical stability.
PCB or Printed Circuit Board is the traditional name for the bare board of which we produce with the layout data and which will be used to mount the components on.
A printed circuit board, or PCB, is used to mechanically support and electrically connect electronic components using conductive pathways, tracks or signal traces etched from copper sheets laminated onto a non-conductive substrate. Components are generally soldered onto the PCB to both electrically connect and mechanically fasten them to it.
Composition and Structure
In FR4 material, glass fiber cloth is like a skeleton, evenly distributed in the epoxy resin matrix. This structure enables FR4 material to have relatively stable performance in multiple directions.
Electrical performance
FR4 is an excellent electrical insulator with high insulation resistance, generally reaching 10 ¹² -10 ¹⁵ Ω, which can effectively isolate different signal paths in the circuit and ensure accurate signal transmission.
Its dielectric constant is usually between 4.0-4.7, suitable for high-speed signal transmission. However, the dielectric constant of FR4 fluctuates greatly under high-frequency conditions, which may lead to signal transmission delay or distortion.
Mechanical performance
FR4 has high mechanical strength and hardness, and can withstand external forces such as bending, stretching, and impact. Its size stability is good, and the size changes are small when the temperature and humidity change, making it suitable for high-precision PCB manufacturing.
Chemical properties
FR4 has good corrosion resistance and can maintain performance in various harsh environments. Its flame retardant rating reaches 94V-0, and it produces almost no harmful gases during combustion, making it more environmentally friendly and human health friendly.
Application scenarios
FR4 is widely used in the electronics industry, especially performing well in high-frequency PCBs. Its cost is relatively low and suitable for large-scale production. However, in high-frequency applications, the limitations of FR4 include insufficient stability of dielectric constant, high dielectric loss, and low thermal conductivity.
In order to optimize high-frequency PCB design, the following strategies can be adopted: reasonable design of stacked structure, selection of low loss FR4 variant materials, precise control of wiring impedance, use of shielding and grounding layers, etc.
