For pipelines with a diameter of eighteen inches or less, installing Rockshield Mesh is an exceptionally straightforward process that utilizes a technique known as a longitudinal wrap. The installation crew unrolls the protective material parallel to the pipeline and wraps it smoothly around the body of the pipe, ensuring it completely encircles the surface. It is critical that the edges of the mesh overlap by a minimum of four to six inches to guarantee there are no gaps where rocks could slip through. This overlap line must always be positioned at the bottom radius of the pipe, specifically at the six o'clock position, to prevent descending backfill from peeling the seam open. Once positioned correctly, the entire wrap is securely fastened in place using non-metallic components like high-strength polypropylene strapping bands or heavy-duty filament tape.
