Which materials are commonly used to manufacture Flexible Films and Pouches, and how do their properties?
Flexible Films and Pouches can be manufactured using different polymers and multi-layer structures depending on the intended application. Polyethylene (PE) is commonly selected for its flexibility, toughness, and moisture resistance. Polypropylene (PP) can provide good stiffness, clarity, and heat resistance for suitable packaging applications. Polyester (PET) is often used in laminated structures because of its strength, dimensional stability, and printing performance. Other barrier layers may be incorporated when improved protection against oxygen, moisture, light, aromas, or other environmental factors is required. Multi-layer constructions combine the characteristics of different materials to achieve the required balance of strength, flexibility, sealing performance, barrier protection, and appearance.
