How do you maintain a silt fence during construction projects?
Regular maintenance and routine inspections are mandatory obligations for project managers to ensure that their perimeter control measures remain compliant with environmental regulations throughout the lifecycle of a project. A silt fence must be thoroughly inspected after every single measurable rainfall event, as well as on a weekly basis during dry periods, to look for signs of tearing, sagging, or post decomposition. Accumulated sediment must be manually cleaned out and disposed of properly once it reaches anywhere between one-third and one-half of the total height of the barrier to prevent excessive physical stress on the fabric. If any fabric panels become punctured or detached from their support stakes, they must be repaired or replaced immediately to restore the integrity of the perimeter control system.
