How is Rockshield Mesh applied to larger diameter pipelines?
When dealing with large-scale industrial pipelines that exceed eighteen inches in diameter, standard roll widths cannot easily encircle the pipe longitudinally, requiring a spiral or pre-cut pad application method instead. Contractors cut the heavy-duty Rockshield Mesh into individual pads or sheets that are custom-tailored to match the exact circumference of the pipe, adding an extra six inches to account for the necessary overlap. These custom pads are wrapped tightly around the width of the structure sequentially, with each consecutive sheet overlapping the previous one by at least two inches to form a continuous, seamless jacket. Just like smaller applications, the primary parallel overlaps are oriented at the six o'clock position and tightly bound using wide polypropylene banding tools, ensuring the entire macro-structure is fully armored against severe backfill impacts.
