How do you properly install a silt fence into soil?
To install a silt fence correctly, a trench must first be excavated along the designated outline, measuring at least six inches deep and six inches wide. The fabric is then placed into the trench, extending down the back wall and across the bottom to prevent water from undermining the structure. After positioning the fabric, the trench is backfilled with soil and compacted thoroughly to secure the base. The wooden or steel stakes are then driven into the ground on the down-slope side of the fabric to provide structural support against water pressure.
