These films are widely used in vegetable farming, fruit plantations, and commercial agriculture because they effectively control weeds, retain soil moisture, and regulate soil temperature.
However, plastic mulch films present environmental challenges. After use, they must be collected and disposed of properly, which adds labor costs. Improper disposal can lead to soil pollution and contribute to plastic waste, a growing concern in the Philippines.
In contrast, biodegradable plastic mulch films are more expensive upfront.
